In order to continue enjoying your massage treatment, here are a few aftercare tips:
- Hydration drink plenty of water or mix it up with. herbal teas
- Breath deeply regularly tune into your breath and breathe deeply and consciously
- Stay warm you may feel cold after treatment so wrap up to avoid a chill
- Relax have a bath, listen to soft relaxing music, meditate
- Rest have a nap especially if you feel extremely lethargic, this is your body telling you to slow down
- Posture pay attention to your general posture, sitting and walking up straight is very important
- Move if you sit at a desk or computer get up and move around at least once an hour
- Stretch find time to exercise and stretch, yoga is excellent
- Self massage through the day massage your shoulders and any other areas that may feel stiff
- Regularity better results are achieved and maintained with regular treatment so book your next massage
Try to avoid (24 hours):
- Stimulants, including caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs
- Strenuous activity
- Undertaking a long drive
- Heavy meals
Potential reactions:
After treatment your body might experience some reactions that generally subside within 24 - 48 hours, which include but are not limited to:
- Stiffness aching muscles, tiredness
- Dizziness or nausea
- Heightened emotions, perhaps even being tearful
- Frequent visits to the toilet, this allows your body to get rid of waste
- Runny nose / coughing, this allows your body to get rid of toxins
- Headache
- Disrupted sleep pattern
